How do I uninstall FastNet manually?

You should run the uninstall.exe file in C:\Program Files\SlipStream Web Accelerator\uninstall\uninstall.exe.

Your web accelerator may be located in a directory other than SlipStream Web accelerator based on the name that you use for the accelerator program.

or you are comfortable editing the registry you can do this

  • 1) "Start" menu, "Run", then type "regedit"
  • 2) Go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
  • 3) Delete the entire key called "SlipStream"
  • 4) Delete all the files in the installation directory (normally c:\program files\$BRANDED_CLIENT_NAME\$
  • 5) Remove all shortcuts via the "Start" menu, "Programs", "Startup" and then right-click on SlipStream Web Accelerator (or the name of the branded client) and then delete this shortcut. Any other shortcuts can be removed in a similar manner.

When I uninstall FastNet or disable it I can't surf?
The easiest thing is to have them select TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS in IE then remove the proxy checkmark under the dial-up settings box and LAN box.

I'm having trouble loading a site. What should I do?

Try adding the site to FastNet's Proxy Exclusion List. Click here for instructions on completing this operation.

If this doesn't solve the problem, try adding the site to SlipStream's pop-up blocker Whitelist. Click here for instructions on completing this operation.

I get message Web Accelerator cannot connect to the SlipStream Service..."  What do I do?

Here is a step-by-step list of things you should verify:

    1. Check that you have successfully connected to your ISP in your usual manner (e.g. Did your dial-up connection successfully connect to your ISP?). This step is independent of whether or not you launch SlipStream Web Accelerator.
    2. Ensure that the ISP that you are connected to is, in fact, the one that supplied you with the SlipStream Web Accelerator software and connection information. In most cases, you can not connect to another ISP and use the same SlipStream Web Accelerator connection settings.
    3. Verify that the Connection information located in the Settings dialog is the same as that provided to you by your ISP.
    4. If you are running firewall software, make sure that a firewall rule is present that allows access to the Remote Server Port (located in the Advanced Connection Settings dialog)
    5. Try uninstalling the SlipStream Web Accelerator (ControlPanel-->Add/Remove Programs and select SlipStream Web Accelerator) then re-install it.
    6. Contact your ISP to verify that the SlipStream Service is up and running.

Now try restarting the SlipStream Web Accelerator by exiting the program then relaunching it.

If the problem persists contact your ISP.

"The SlipStream Service does not allow connections from your current IP address" Why does this happen?

The most likely reason you would recieve this error is when you connect to the Internet using a different service provider from the one providing you with SlipStream Service. Your ISP may only allow you to use the SlipStream Service when connected to the Internet through them.
